Some questions are too big for one story. These get a number, stay open across everything we make — and close only when they are actually answered.
When our reporting hits a question that will not resolve in one episode, we open a file on it. The file gets a number and a stamp. Every episode, short, or newsletter that touches it carries the marker — so you can follow the question, not just the content. Audience responses go into the file: the best takes get read on the show, and two days of responses after every drop feed the newsletter.
A file closes one way: when the question is answered well enough that we would defend the answer in public. Not when it stops trending. That is the difference between a beat and an algorithm.
We opened our channel with this question — because we had to get your attention, Canada, and because the question is real. The science on the developing brain is real, and we will not pretend it is not. But Quebec says 21, most provinces say 19, Alberta says 18 — same science on everybody's desk, three different answers. Somebody is doing math, and somebody is doing politics. This file stays open until we can tell you which is which.
