THE X-SMOKERS PLAN

A harm-reduction program that helped people quit — being rebuilt, carefully, for the phone in your pocket.

Why This One

Before WeedWiki was an idea, this program was already doing the work: helping people quit smoking, one classroom at a time, for twenty years. It ran on paper, overheads, and stubborn hope — and it ran because humans showed up and taught it.

One of us cut his teaching teeth in that classroom. This is the room where we learned that education done honestly changes what people do. Everything else on this site descends from that.

So no, this isn’t a side project. It’s the heart of the operation. And we’re going to get it right, at whatever speed getting-it-right requires.

The Plan — Four Moves, In Order

1 · Preserve. Digitize everything. Every page, every overhead, every worksheet — twenty years of material, scanned, catalogued, safe. Nothing that worked this hard ends up in a box.
2 · Understand. Study what actually made it work — measured, not assumed. We think we know. We’re going to check before we renovate, because you don’t guess at a load-bearing wall. The parts doing the heavy lifting get kept, exactly as they are.
3 · Rebuild. Modernize the delivery so the program can reach people where they are — not instead of a human teaching it, but so a human teaching it goes further. Alongside it: the administration app this program always deserved. Enrolment, sessions, follow-ups — the unglamorous machinery volunteers have carried by hand for two decades.
4 · Deliver. Back into service, taught by people who learned it from the source. Free to the people who need it — that part was never negotiable and never will be.

The Timer

One feature gets its own headline. The program teaches control times — a small, patient trick for breaking big habits. The app turns it into a timer you carry with you. Twenty years of classroom wisdom, reduced to a button you can press at the exact moment you need it.

Simple on purpose. The best tools usually are.

The Honest State

Where this stands today, plainly:

— The material is being digitized now, by volunteers, on volunteer time.
— The charity paperwork is in the pipe.
— There are no launch dates on this page, on purpose. This one doesn’t get rushed, and it doesn’t get promised — it gets finished.

When there’s real progress, it shows up here. Same rule as everything we do: you’ll see the work, not just the announcement.

This program had a teacher at its beginning, and everything above is built in his honour, with his blessing.

That’s all we’re saying for now. When the time is right — and only with the right blessings — we’ll tell you about him properly. He’s earned better than a footnote.
